We are now taking appointments for portraits for the new church directory.  The following dates will be available for photo sessions:  August 25, 26, 27, 28 and again September 9, 10, 11.   September 8th will be an additional day if needed.  YOU CAN ARRANGE FOR AN APOINTMENT ONLINE BY CLICKING HERE or call the church office for other sign up options.  We want to make this the most complete directory we can, so please plan to participate by scheduling your session NOW.

The Christian Education Ministry Team is sponsoring a photo fundraiser of antique type photos, in sepia finish for youth to help finance the purchase of a new Church van.   Just think what a neat Mother’s Day gift this would be!   However, we are approximately 15 certificates away from our goal of 60.   If we do not reach our minimum number of bookings we will have to cancel. Please pass the word that we need to reach that goal by next Monday, April 19^th.   Please contact co-workers, family members, neighbors, etc. to see if they would like to buy a certificate.  Here’s the simple process:

1)  Purchase a certificate. 

2)  Make an appointment for photos to be taken on April 23 or 24 from either Vicki Jones or Diana Terry.

3)  Come back on May 4 to view your pictures.  

Several individuals are selling the certificates.  See Gail Fox, Kristi Moxley, Heather Matthias, Mandi Wells, Stacie Dougherty, Michelle and Maizey Lang, Vicki Jones or Debra Mikkelson.   You can earn free packages of pictures if you sell 10 to 15 certificates and the individuals come to their scheduled appointment time.  If you would like more information, or would like to sell certificates and earn free pictures, contact Vicki Jones 785-988-4214 (home) or 785-226-3995 (cell).

Maundy Thursday – April 1, 2010

The Agape Feast will begin at 6 p.m.  We will meet in the annex.  The service begins with the washing of the hands and we will proceed to Wolf Hall for the meal.  Due to the specialty foods that we need to order, we ask that you please turn in reservations.  Please call the church office, 367-3036, to reserve your place at the table.

At 6:45 p.m. the Chancel Choir will present “Calvary’s Mountain” a Cantata for Passiontide by John Leavitt.

Good Friday – April 2, 2010

Tenebrae Service at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary, followed by a 24-Hour Prayer Vigil in the Memorial Chapel.  The Vigil begins at 8 p.m. and continues through 8 p.m. Sat., April 3rd. 

The Tenebrae Service is a service of shadows with the extinguishing of candles.  Special music will be provided. 

 The Prayer Vigil will help focus our spiritual preparation for the celebration of Easter – time for prayer and reflection of Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection.  The chapel at the church will be set up as the prayer center with a prayer guide available as well as communion.  The vigil will be set up into ½ hour intervals and you may sign up on the sheet in the annex or call the church office.

 6:30 a.m.:  Sonrise Service at Riverhouse Restaurant, 101 Commercial – Bring lawn chairs and blankets – NO NURSERY PROVIDED

 7:30 – 9 a.m.:  Easter Brunch, Wolf Hall

9 a.m.:  People of Praise Service

10 a.m.:  Sunday School Classes

10:45 a.m.:  Traditional Worship
